Blissful abandonment behind the train track.

I took these during the Columbus Day Parade in NYC on October 12.

What a sight to behold! As they ran around playing their horns, the pride and spirit they had for being Italian shone through each move they made. And if their hats say one thing, it's that the Italians have always known how to dress with style.

Stop-Time

I recently took this picture at my school's Cross Country meet.

"Stop-Time" is also the title of a book I read over this summer - a memoir by Frank Conroy. If you ever happen to pick it up, you may notice the connections between this photo and Frank's life. As an adolescent, he was constantly on the go; running from one place to the next. Running from others, and running from himself.

What does this photo make you think about?

Red Shoes

Lately my days have slipped into the cycle of winter's mindset; each day blending into the next. Fall is invaded by a thick coat of darkness, and the world seems dry of the golden summer brilliance. Even just a pair of red sneakers can snap the idle mind into reality once more. Look out for these signals, and we might all stay sane. Look out for the red shoes.

Something about this photo draws me in. Maybe it is the raw luminescent light bulbs dangling, or the no longer carbonated soda and other sugary elixirs. The picture's details show the work day coming to an end, but then again, with a second look it shows how the work day never really does end.

Here is a link to some of the photos I took this summer at a program called SOCAPA, based in good ol' Brooklyn, NY.

Where The Hidden Truth Lies

Vulnerable, tough girl. At first this shot seemed simple to me; it's just a face. But as the human eye starts to break down her elements, I realized how her eyes say one thing, and her mouth another.

Deep in conversation.
