Shooting Race

Shooting Race - Coney Island - 2009 - America. Pause - are we really as far along as some people think we are? This photo makes me think twice about that question.

This photo's highest point of focus is on the most colorful part of the image. This is also where my eyes first take me. That combination is really appealing to me when I look at photography, I think it is just a natural instinct of sorts.

Sophia's Stare

I saw this father and son this past summer on Coney Island. One hand holding his son and the other holds a cigarette. Addiction and love seem much too intertwined with one another in this moment. It seems like a balancing act to me. But who is the man trying to convince? His son, or himself? This photo also represents the struggle of parenting to me, like a "do as I say, but not as I do" sort of situation.
