Found Art: Fire Extinguisher

Part of human nature is to produce art in some shape or form, but it still intrigues me when I see it on the street and in unexpected places instead of formally in museums or galleries. In a way, the street art is more "raw" and honest sometimes because it gets attention through surprise and curiosity. I've always been a lover of graffiti and all things related like doodles and sidewalk art. It adds an element to our day that makes us pause and think about the world and people whizzing by us each day.
I saw this sticker on a fire extinguisher as I was leaving a Parsons building one Saturday after a Graphic Design class I took there this Spring. It doesn't take up much space, but it holds a strong message. Seeing it had that shock factor for me because I wasn't expecting it there as I went on with the routine of my day. So I took a picture of it and on my way out of the building, I continued to think about its substance.

Eva Out of Focus

Here is a photo of my best friend, Eva. I just found it the other day as I was looking through old photos. I took this in the early winter of this past year. She was simply on a computer, and it's out of focus, but something about her hunched back, splayed feet, and light coming in through the window captures me. The simplicity of a complex person can be caught in a moment of film, and that's one thing I love about photography.

Graduations

The season for graduations has just ended and I have finally returned home from watching my older brothers graduate. First, I went to New Hampshire for my brother Marcus' high school graduation. Then my family and I shlepped all the way to California for my eldest brother Roscoe's graduation. Below are photos of the events themselves and various happenings in between.

Marcus showed my mom and I some of the prints he's been making during his senior year.

Our cousin Emma, also graduating from high school in Marcus' class.

Outdoor Market, Union Square

I love taking street photography, especially in New York, and especially in the Spring and Summer. It just so happened that when I was near Union Square one day this spring, there was an anti-war riot going on, and a outdoor food market. So I went and walked around and took pictures of both simultaneously.
