MLK - Gwendolyn Bradley

During the Martin Luther King Jr. program at my school this Friday, the keynote speaker was Gwendolyn Bradley. She is an "American soprano who has performed on many opera and concert stages since her debut in 1976. She performed for seven seasons with The Metropolitan Opera and made her European debut with the Netherlands Opera in 1983. Over the years she has learned to “be true to myself, my roots, and my essence.” She noted that we “are all growing patches of history. Dr. King’s legacy is riding on our shoulders. It is up to us what we do and say every day, and to think of others.” She closed by reminding us to ask, “What are you doing for others?” "

Here is a link of her performing at a young age: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19J-wiLr-20

New Lens

Using muscles I'm not used to while exploring with my new beloved 10-22 mm (f/3.5-4.5 usm) wide-angle lens. It's given me a totally different perspective on life than what I saw through my other smaller lens has. Not better nor worse, just different.

Finally Caught.

After I put these pictures up, a friend of mine told me how they reminded her of a few of Cary Mae Weem's photographs. I had never heard of her before, so I researched her work and thought that the similarities were really interesting because our messages are different yet some elements of the pictures are the same. I love how she uses text with her photographs...
