Pratt Class Pictures


This Winter/Spring I took a b&w dark room class at Pratt on Sundays. I absolutely adored my teacher, Frederico Savini and the rest of the people in my class were so inspiring. It recently ended, so I scanned the majority of my photos, so here they are! I still haven't scanned the ones I developed from my last class, but I will soon and put them up.


About three classes in, I got really into this technique that the pictures have above. I would quickly burn the actual film itself with a flame to give it a warped effect, I would develop it normally to black and white, then I would turn it to sepia tone by dipping it into two trays of chemicals that were set up. During last step (and the most fun in my opinion) I would light the actual picture of fire. My first few pictures that I lit were not very attractive, but after a while I got the hang of it, that's when I started to really experiment with patters and markings of the flame's effect on the photo.

The ones below are some more of my pictures from the class, but these are just simple b&w film that I developed...
