Earlier tonight I went to The AIPAD Photography Show at the Park Avenue Armory. It was fantastic - I feel so inspired right now!! Some of my favorites tonight: Paul D'Amato, Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind, Barbara Crane, Arthur Trees, and Sally Mann.

Sally Mann - Blowing Bubbles
Arthur Trees - Flood Dream

  1. Sally Mann is one of my favorite photographers of all time! Have you seen her book "Immediate Family"? One look and you'll know why it was a controversy (in its time) and why it remains a classic today. You should also check out her book "At Twelve", portraits of young women. If you like Sally Mann, also look into the work of Jock Sturges, another portraitist who takes pictures of those he knows well. In my opinion, those are always the best portraits. Although Mann and Sturges do very different types of work, that commonality is what I think makes their photographs so telling and so compelling.
